If there’s anything we want you to remember at PAPYRUS, it’s that we’re always game for celebrating milestones—those big events and the sweet, everyday celebrations. And our “Thinking of You” season embodies just that: “It’s the idea that connecting with others just because is worthy of a celebration,” says our CEO Dominique Schurman. “Too often we get caught up in seasons or occasions as a reason to connect and reach out.”
And that’s great, she says, adding that “sometimes even more meaningful are those moments where the note or card is unexpected and for no special reason other than to let someone know that you are thinking of them.” At PAPYRUS we want to inspire everyone to just take that moment to say “I care about you” … in whatever way that feels right.
Dominique: In our world full of technology, pressure, tensions, world events, and the challenges of everyday life, our connections with others center us and give our life texture and meaning. Letting those in our lives who we care about know that they are special is one of the simplest but most important things we can do to touch another’s life and to enrich our own along the way.
Dominique: For me, it is the personal things that count.
- Write a note, card or letter expressing how you feel. Never assume people know……everyday is the perfect day to say “I love you,” “you are a star,” or “you amaze me.” Even a few words can have great meaning.
- Share an unexpected gift that reminds someone of a time shared together….a memento, a cookbook, a poem.
- Make a call and just say hello … for no other reason than to connect.
Dominique: “Reach out and write” expresses the idea of proactively seeking connection and creating memorable moments through the written word. Words and writing leave a lasting imprint on others in ways not always evident in the moment.
Letters through time have shaped decisions, have crafted ideas, have ignited love, have healed and given strength—especially when they are unexpected. These connections can be between loved ones and sometimes even strangers who share a common experience. The opportunities are limitless to reach out to another and make a new connection every day that can lead to new beginnings.
Dominique: “Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead.
Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.”
That’s from Winnie-the-Pooh.
