Helpful Wedding Tips

Let’s face it, there are many details and various aspects involved when planning for your big day. Don’t feel you have to do it all! It’s ok to rely upon your bridal party and friends and family to help in planning and it’s a great way to involve those friends and family members that aren’t part of the bridal party. Remember, your loved ones want to help and enlisting the help of those you trust gives you that peace of mind and allows you to focus on the key details leading up to your day.

At Papyrus, we are the experts in our field. Not only can you count on us to help you design the perfect wedding trousseau but you can also rely upon our helpful tips to assist with some of the not so well known secrets of wedding planning.
    • Rule of thumb… allow for 1 invitation per household (family or couple) not 1 invitation per guest. Planning 1 invitation per person is a common and very costly mistake.
    • Order an additional 25 sets of your wedding trousseau. The extras can be used for those last minute additions (and believe us…there always are!), mistakes or damaged invitations as well as keepsakes.
    • Include the day of the week, date and year of your wedding. It’s always nice to have the year included for your keepsake invitation.
    • The actual street address should not be printed on the invitation. We recommend using a map/direction card for this purpose.
    • Registry information should not be printing on the invitation. We recommend an enclosure card for this purpose. Word of mouth is another acceptable via to communicate registry information.
    • Reply dates should be a minimum of 2 weeks, maximum of 4 weeks before the date of your wedding. This allows for flexibility depending on when your final list is due to the caterers, coordinator, etc.
    • Some guests are so excited about returning their response cards they forget to include their names on the response card. A small, inconspicuous number on the back of your reply is a good way to match up the responses with your guests.
    • Have your invitations weighed at the post office to determine the appropriate postage needed. The costs associated with mailing your invitation will vary based on a number of things including the size, weight of the paper used, layers, liners, etc. This will help ensure you do not receive returned invitations that were undeliverable due to incorrect postage.
    • Utilize the hand-cancel services at your local post office when mailing your invitations. There is no additional fee for this service and it will help minimize the scuffing to your invitation during the mailing process.
    • Wedding announcements should not be post-marked prior to the day after your event.
